Registration for North American Dairy Quiz Bowl

North American 4-H Invitation Dairy Quiz Bowl

November 4-5, 2011
KY Fair and Exposition Center, Louisville, KY

This year marks the 32nd contest for the the North American 4-H Invitational Dairy Quiz Bowl.  We have 18 state teams entered this year.  Dairy quiz bowl programs are an excellent teaching tool as well as an opportunity for competition, encouraging more young men and women to prepare for an in-depth learning experience that benefits them greatly in their future studies.

Items to Note for 2011

  1. The Sherman-Minton bridge on I-64 (crosses Ohio River) IS CLOSED.  There is a detour but it is approximately 30 miles more. If this is your planned route, please plan accordingly or change your route across the Ohio River.  At this time, the I-65 Bridge is open.
  2. You will be receiving a separate email from Robin Notton with the listing of your team members and coaches.  Please respond to her regarding the listing and make any changes to correct misspellings and delete the names of team members and/or coaches who will not be traveling to Louisville.  If you have no changes, please respond indicating everything is OK.
  3. The final rounds of the contest are held starting at approximately 2:15 PM.  We ask that all teams participating in the contest be present for the final rounds to support and round out this learning experience. Please assemble in the make-up room in the West Hall.
  4. The Dairy Quiz Bowl Banquet and Awards Program on Saturday evening will be held at the KY Fair and Exposition Center. We ask that all teams please participate in this activity, interact again with youth from other states, and celebrate the achievements of all participants.
  5. Questions this year will come from the sources previously and this year will include materials on DAIReXNET (www.extension.org/dairy+cattle) . Each year a topic area from DAIReXNET will be selected for the youth to concentrate their study efforts. In 2011, the Mastitis and Milking Management subject area as well as the archived webinar entitled “Managing Somatic Cell Counts” will be highlighted.
