Throughout the year HMA Club officers invite successful HMA interns, alumni, local business owners and managers, and career consultants to speak at their monthly meetings. Former guest speakers include representatives from the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, Wedding Planners, and KEI.
HMA Club members also make trips to local hotels, restaurants, and hospitality and tourism related businesses for students to see how service industry organizations operate. Members have taken tours of The Signature Club of Lansdowne in Lexington, KY and have attended the Government Meeting Planner’s networking event in Frankfort, KY.
This spring, HMA Club will be traveling to Chicago where they will visit landmark institutes such as Millennium Park and getting a private tour of Shedd Aquarium!
HMA Club meetings are held in 128 Erickson Hall, meetings for this semester will take place Mondays at 2pm monthly. Students who are not majors in Hospitality Management and Tourism are welcome to join the club. Membership dues are $40 for the academic school year.
HMA Club members hold events throughout the year to fundrais for future trips, club activities and guest speakers.
Color Me Spring Fashion Show:
Every year the Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles Club and the Hospitality Management Association hold a spring fashion show and silent auction. The fashion show consists of local boutique and big-box retailers’ latest runway trends, students and MAT Club members act as models for the event. Prior to the runway show, guests participate in a silent auction and dinner.

The HMA Club began a new tradition for group members in 2013 with the start of a pancake breakfast. Club members served faculty and students who attended offering them exposure to management practices and front and back of the house restaurant operations.
