Welcome to Five New Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agents

New Agents meet with Dr. Laura Stephenson

January 24th, five new county Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) completed a one-day orientation with FCS administrators and state staff.  We welcome them to their new roles serving families in seven Kentucky counties and introduce them to you.

Lynnette A. Allen did not have far to move when she accepted her new position as Breckinridge County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences.  She was currently working as Extension Agent for 4-H/Youth Development for 18 years in the same county.  She started as FCS agent on December 1, 2012.  Lynette holds a M.S. in Career, Technical and Leadership Education with a major in Vocational Education from the University of Kentucky.  Her undergraduate degree is from Western Kentucky University with a major in Interior Design and a minor in General Home Economics.

Tiffany Calvert began work as the new Ohio County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences on January 1, 2013.  Previously, she worked for the Grayson County Board of Education.  She attended both the University of the Cumberlands and Western Kentucky University.  While a student, she developed a family life education program called “Healthy Bodies; Healthy Minds.”  She has been active in both student and community organizations and is the recipient of several professional awards.

Alethea Price began her journey as the new Boyle County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences on January 1, 2013.  Alethea is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Child and Family Studies.  Her minor is Foodservice Administration and Nutrition.  She is a Certified Family Life Educator.  While a student at EKU, Alethea worked as a family studies practicum student at the Madison County Extension Office under the direction of FCS Agent Gina Noe.

Benita Peoples began as the Harrison County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences on January 1, 2013.  She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. and an M.S. in Family Studies.  She was recipient of the Lyman T. Johnson Academic Fellowship and the William C. Parker Scholarship.  Her previous employment included work as a substitute teacher for the Fayette County Public Schools and many paid activities, including office coordinator at the UK Family Center.

Ashley White is no stranger to the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service.  She has worked in the Caldwell County office as staff assistant and Extension intern during 2005.  She now returns to Caldwell County as the Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences.  She has also worked in the McCracken County and Hopkins County school systems as Family and Consumer Sciences teacher.  Ashley is a graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and an M.A. in School Counseling.  She began her work in Caldwell County on January 1, 2013.
