Faculty & Staff

Dr. Tricia Day is currently a lecturer and internship director for the University of Kentucky, Hospitality and Tourism Management Program.  Prior to UK, Dr. Day was the Program Coordinator and Associate Professor for the Recreation, Tourism and Sport Management department at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY.

Day received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in Recreation and Leisure Studies.  She received her Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Day’s current scholarly endeavors include areas such as improving teaching, curriculum design and service learning.  Most recently she has focused on improving the quality of the Retailing and Tourism Management Internship Program.  She also has an interest in study away/study abroad experiences.  In the study away/study abroad arena, Day seeks to more clearly articulate the value of those experiences for students and understand how faculty can facilitate students’ development through these types of experiential settings.

In addition to a full teaching and advising load, she makes time to stay connected professionally with Kentucky Parks and Recreation Society (KRPS).  For KRPS, she chairs the University Relations Committee and serves as the student liaison for the Conference committee.  She also maintains her Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification.
