Boulanger and Rogers Named Chow Award Recipients

The Lily Chow award annually recognizes outstanding juniors in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition.  Award recipients are selected by the faculty in the department.  Selection is based on academic achievement, campus involvement, and professional potential.  Recipients are awarded a scholarship in recognition of their superior contributions to the department.  The 2014-2015 recipients were announced May 2 as part of the School of Human Environmental Sciences Awards program.

Mary Boulanger is a junior with a double-major in human nutrition and biology.  She is an active member of the Honors Program, serving as a student council member, peer mentor, DanceBlue Team Captain and Ambassador Team Coordinator.  She is also very involved in Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed fraternity, and has volunteered 225 hours through their service program.  Her volunteer roles have included K-Crew Leader, UK Fusion Coordinator and UK Fusion Event Operations Chair.  Mary has been elected to serve as a senator-at-large in UK Student Government for 2014-2015.

Emily Rogers is a junior majoring in dietetics.  She is an active leader in the UK Student Dietetic and Nutrition Association, serving as the organization’s volunteer chair in 2013 and public relations officer in 2014.  Since January of 2013, Emily has served as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Student Liaison and has been a mentor to many other dietetics students.  Faculty in the department are highly complementary of Emily’s work both in the classroom and beyond.  She regularly volunteers to assist with outside event and professional activities.

Congratulations to Mary and Emily!
