Johnson Receives Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Janet Johnson, Allen County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences, has been selected as the 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for the Adult Education Program at Western Kentucky University (WKU).  Johnson began her Extension career in 1977.  Throughout her tenure, she has developed and delivered a wide variety of programs directed to improving the community and the quality of lives for families.  Janet provided leadership for the development of state, regional, and local parternships to implement the "Farm to Table Connection" educational initiative.  She also lead efforts to establish a community recycling center and collection system, physical activity initiatives, and the "Heart of Scottsville" downtown revitalization/historic preservation project.

Dr. Jim Berger, Associate Professor in the WKU Adult Education Program shared the following, "Janet has been a staunch supporter of adult education in Allen County and within our adult education program.  I cannot think of anyone who deserves this award moreso than Janet."  We congratulate Janet on this honor!
