Leslie McCammish joined the Family & Consumer Sciences Extension team in March of 2009. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture with a Bachelor of Animal Sciences, specializing in Equine, and a minor in Business. She was employed by Fasig-Tipton Company from 2000-2009. She worked very closely with Fasig-Tipton's previous owner John Hettinger and helped him develop a well respected national charity. Leslie served as the Executive Director of Blue Horse Charities raising over $2,035,000 in funds assisting equine rescues across North America.
Leslie is now working with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Programs (EFNEP) as an Extension Associate. She is in charge of collaborating with the county extension agents, program assistants, district and area directors, special project school teachers, and volunteers across the state to maintain a record of their hours taught and evaluation data. She is also working to enhance the training methods for each with technological advancements. University of Kentucky Nutrition Education Program conducts programs in all 120 counties. Participants receive hands-on education and gain basic skills needed to raise healthy families on limited incomes. Each year, the program reaches over 700,000 individuals. Leslie produces many promotional and public relation materials for the Nutrition Education Programs. She is an active member of Kentucky Association of State Extension Professionals (KASEP), currently serving as their Secretary.
