On March 29, 2010, the Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles Club hosted its first annual Keeneland Spring Fashion Show in Worsham Theater. The overall concept behind the fashion show was to provide the students at UK with new ideas on outfits for the spring season. Since attending Keeneland is such a big deal in Lexington, we knew that numerous stores would be willing to contribute their fashions. Local boutiques such as Aj's Clothing, Bella Rose, The Peppermint Palm, and Worlds Apart contributed vibrant spring attire along with footwear.
Admission for the fashion show was only $5, and proceeds were donated to the non-profit organization, Search Love Rescue. Before the fashion show began, the founders of Search Love Rescue presented a slideshow of pictures while speaking to the audience about what the purpose of their organization was.
Once the show began, each model strutted down the walkway and across stage. As the models posed on stage, the audience reacted with "oohs" and "aahs" in response to the vibrant colors, and unique designs of the garments. Dr. Wesley of the Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles club described each outfit to perfection as the models showcased their piece.
The Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles Club look forward to presenting many more events like this in the future. With the help of each club member and professor, the Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles Club will create a name for itself across campus.
