The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics prepares individuals to be recognized in the field of food and nutrition systems management. Graduates of the DHN Dietetics Program are prepared to apply for an accredited supervised practice program /dietetic internship in order to become eligible to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) national registry exam to earn the credential Registered Dietitian (RD). As a RD, graduates function as entry-level professionals with opportunities for practice in: medical nutrition therapy, community dietetics, food systems management, business and entrepreneurship, nutrition/product research, and nutrition counseling.
The UK DHN Dietetics Program offers two (2) options to earn a bachelor's degree in dietetics.
Option A - Didactic Program in Dietetics or DPD - fulfills the Accredited Didactic Program or Coordinated Program in Dietetics (ACEND) knowledge requirements. Graduates of the DPD are eligible to apply to an accredited dietetic internship (DI).Option B - Coordinated Program in Dietetics or CPD - fulfills the ACEND knowledge requirements and competencies. Graduates of the DHN CPD are eligible to sit for the CDR national registry exam to earn the RD credential.
