UKREC FIELD DAY...After a three year layoff UK’s Research and Education Center at Princeton was back with another Field Day, offering activities and programs for the entire family. Extension Today has a complete wrap up on Field Day ’05.

  GYPSY MOTH…The Gypsy Moth is a threat to Kentucky’s hardwood timber industry if it gets established here. See what experts from UK’s Entomology Department are doing to keep the pest from making in its home in the Bluegrass State.
NIGHT INSECT WALK…This was the 18th year for families and children to venture into the night at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary in search of insects. It was the Entomology Department’s Night Insect Walk.
DEMONSTRATION GARDEN…Master Gardeners in Fayette County maintain a demonstration vegetable garden in the arboretum near UK’s campus. The garden has many facets from an educational resource to a community service.

INSECT PEST MANAGEMENT…It’s a practice commercial nursery producers use to effectively control pests and make their plants healthier and more attractive to their consumers. IPM techniques save nursery owners time and money, so they can pass the savings along to their customers.

  STAR CHEFS…Young people ages 10 to 12 years old learned how to be Star Chefs in a summer enrichment program in Mason County. It helped some of the students to get over their fears of cooking and using sharp knives, while learning how to read a recipe and other techniques.
