2006 AG ECONOMIC OUTLOOK…The economic outlook for Kentucky Agriculture continues to be good for 2006.  That’s the word from UK Agricultural Extension Economists.

 

DRUG ENDANGERED CHILDREN GRANT…More help is on the way to ensure the safety of children exposed to drug use and production in rural Kentucky.  A network of drug endangered children teams will be created through an Appalachian Regional Commission grant to UK.

 

UK INTERIM PROVOST AND AG DEAN SCOTT SMITH…Each year Extension Today visits with UK College of Agriculture Dean Scott Smith to get an update on the state of the college and Cooperative Extension Service.  Dean Smith is serving as UK Interim Provost while the search narrows for a permanent replacement.

 
 

GET FIT GRANT…There is a program to raise awareness about physical activity and nutrition in northern Kentucky called Fitness For Life Around Grant County, or FFLAG.  FFLAG targets obesity, tobacco use, and depression.

 
 

REDUCING SALT IN YOUR DIET…2005 saw many changes in the world of nutrition, so each month this year Extension Today will focus on one of the new guidelines from the USDA’s new My Pyramid.  This month we focus on choosing foods with lower salt.

 
 

4H MEANS BUSINESS…A 4H program in Madison County is helping prepare young people to be future entrepreneurs. It’s called 4H means business and that was the goal of a showcase and sale just before the holidays.
