University of Kentucky hosted the National Priester Extension Health
Conference for the first time in April. The conference covered a
wide-range of contemporary health issues with more than two hundred people
SCOTT SMITH IS INTERIM PROVOST….College of Agriculture

THE AMERICAN INDIAN PROJECT...It would be hard to find
a more generous organization than Kentucky’s Extension Homemakers and the
way they opened their hearts and pocketbooks for their latest project.
It’s called the American Indian Project and the goal was to collect school
supplies, money, and other items for Native American children living on
reservations in Montana and Idaho.
SPRING DESIGN: TRENDS AND TRADITIONS…That was the title
of a seminar sponsored by Extension Homemakers in the Pennyrile area. They
were looking at ways to give their homes a fresh new look for spring along
with other ideas.
MARTIN CO. GREENHOUSE…A greenhouse
operated by the Martin County Cooperative Extension Service is providing
some economic development to the county and is a learning tool for youth
and adults alike.
LLOYDS OF LONDON…Lloyd’s of London, the world renowned
insurer, is celebrating an important anniversary with the University of
Kentucky. Since the mid-1980’s, Lloyd’s underwriters, brokers, and Kentucky
agents have given more than $640,000 for research and other activities to
the UK Veterinary Science Department.
YOUTH EXPLORATION DAY…A career
exploration day for grade school students in the Mammoth Cave area of
Kentucky continues to provide students with an opportunity to explore
careers in agriculture and other fields. It is a joint effort between the
University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University.
