ARBORETUM DIRECTOR ANNOUNCEMENT
I am pleased to announce that Molly Davis has accepted my offer to serve as the next Director of the Arboretum. Molly will formally begin her service on January 1, 2014. Molly is a Lexington native and a graduate of Landscape Architecture in our College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. She has served as both a research assistant and adjunct faculty in LA. Most recently she has been Senior Supervising Landscape Architect with Parsons Brinkerhoff in Lexington. Molly emerged from an inclusive national search with enthusiastic support from the diverse stakeholders of the Arboretum. She succeeds Marcia Farris who will retire in 2014 after the transition in leadership. Marcia served with distinction and remarkable success and I join her many, many supporters in the community who are deeply grateful for her leadership, unsurpassed dedication, and impact.
The Arboretum has made remarkable progress over a relatively short lifetime. This has been the result of outstanding leadership and exceptional community support. With the appointment of Molly Davis as the next Director, we are now very well positioned to continue the advancement of the Arboretum to new levels.
I am sure that those of us who value the Arboretum as both as an academic, educational, environmental and aesthetic asset will find an opportunity to express our appreciation to Marcia as we welcome Molly Davis to this important leadership position.
