Congratulations to Gwenda Johnson, Elliott County Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences. Gwenda received the East Kentucky Leadership Award, Public Individual this past month.
The East Kentucky Leadership Awards are presented through the East Kentucky Leadership Foundation. Johnson was recognized for public service dedicated to the betterment of the region. Since 1998, she has helped to generate approximately $1.5 million in grants from an assorted set of funders, including the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board, the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Paul and Lucille Caudill Little Foundation, the Steele Reese Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Johnson has been a driving force in the community and continues to grow economic development within Elliott County.
