Trainings & In-Service

Training
Extension In-Services

Creating a social movement surrounding leadership development begins with one person at a time.  Extension agents serve their communities in many capacities, including as information gate-keepers and in community leadership roles.  All of the in-services listed below are part of the Building Community Leaders for Tomorrow (BCLT) program and focus on specific topics contributing towards a more in-depth understanding of leadership, and how to apply this in a community setting.  Any extension agent or specialist is invited to participate in these trainings.  In-service topics for the 2008-2009 fiscal year include:

Coming in March 2011...

Leading by Example: How to be an Effective Relational Leader (Part II)
WEBINAR - One fundamental aspect of good leadership is the relationship that is developed between the leader and followers. But how does one do that? Factors such as trust, credibility, and honesty all figure into the leader-follower relationship. Still, integrating these ideas into everyday leadership interactions can be easier said than done. These webinars will address topics including: the role relationships play in leadership, developing trust and credibility, the link between relational and servant leadership, contributing to the "social good" within your community, and how to encourage youth to engage and give back to their community.
In-service Information:
Coming to your computer via Centra: March 21st, 2011 from 1:30-2:30 pm EST

Coming in May & July 2011...

Empowerment: The New Face of Power (Parts I and II)
WEBINAR - Power plays a role within most of life's interactions. And even though it is necessary, many people give power a negative connotation. Empowerment, or the sharing of power, is power for the next century. Learn how power has changed over the years, exactly what empowerment is, how to incorporate it into your leadership interactions, and how to motivate others with empowerment.
In-service Information:
Part I: Coming to your computer via Centra: May 9th, 2011
from 1:30-2:30 pm EST
Part II*: Coming to your computer via Centra: July 11th, 2011

* Part I must be attended/viewed before participating in Part II
