Photo The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment established the Managing in Tough Times Initiative to assist Kentucky families in managing and recovering from the current economic situation. The broad goals for the Managing in Tough Times Initiative include:

  • Improve the economic well-being of individuals, families and communities relating to personal and family finance for both rural and urban settings.

  • Develop an interdisciplinary program focused on the needs of Kentucky's citizens relating to personal and family finance for both rural and urban settings.

  • Focus existing and future Cooperative Extension programming on the economic issues facing youth, families and farms in Kentucky.

  • Identify other university and community partners to collaborate.

  • Utilize the grassroots issues gathering process of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment's Cooperative Extension Service as a starting point for program and resource development.

  • Create educational products and programs with components which include direct outreach to clientele, agent training and support, curriculum development, web resource development and possible applied research.
