Degrees

  • 1999 - B.S. Plant and Soil Science (Soil and Water Environmental Science Option), University of Kentucky
  • 2001 - M.S. Plant and Soil Science, University of Kentucky

Position

Amanda works as an Extension Specialist for Water Quality in the Agriculture Programs Department at UK. She serves as a liaison between the UK Cooperative Extension Service and the Kentucky Division of Conservation. Her role is to maintain communications between these two agencies, and conduct outreach and education efforts related to agricultural water quality issues and nonpoint source pollution.

Preparation at UK

Her education prepared her for a career in extension: “Not only did I learn loads of information about soils, water, plants, and ecosystems, but I had the experience of learning about them on a farm, in a hardwood forest, in parks, and even in France. I had the opportunity to participate on our collegiate soils judging team, serve as an officer for our Agronomy Club, and enjoy the friendships and camaraderie of my fellow classmates. My experience in the Plant and Soil Science department enriched my life intellectually, socially, culturally, and professionally. Who could ask for more?”
