Curriculum of Study


Students in the Plant Physiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Program are required to enroll for four semesters of full time course work before taking their qualifying examination. At least one year of residence beyond the qualifying exam is required before a Ph.D. degree can be granted.

All Plant Physiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology students must take the following courses:

  • BCH 610 - Biochemistry of Lipids and Membranes
  • BCH 611 - Biochemistry and Cell Biology of Nucleic Acids
  • BCH 612 - Structure and Function of Proteins and Enzymes
  • PGY 617 - Physiological Genomics
  • PPA 670 - Plant Bacteriology
  • PPA 671 - Advanced Plant Virology
  • PPA 672 - Advanced Plant Mycology
  • PPA 673 - Advanced Plant Disease Resistance
