With the recent recession, many counties are wanting to know how their unemployment rates have been changing.

The years 2007 to 2009 were the official years for the recession and were key years when unemployment rates were rising. Since 2009, 102 counties (85% of all counties) in Kentucky have seen their unemployment rates decline ranging from a 0.7% decline to a 34.4% decline.

To see a graph of annual unemployment rates for 2000-2010, see the Building Strong Families for Kentucky 2012 county profiles at:

While the American Community Survey contains estimates of unemployment,

they are not the official unemployment rates

To find the official unemployment rates for your county,

use the unemployment rates produced by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
